Wow! We shot the most fantastic wedding a few weekends ago! Leisha and Kyle are simply two of the most genuinely in love people I think I have ever met. They were truly giddy all day. Photogenic Images also encountered a first during this ceremony- a traditional foot washing, which Leisha and Kyle chose to do in honor of their Christian faith. During the reception, we stole a few minutes to take photos during sunset. When I saw this field I knew it would be a beautiful compliment to her bridal portraits.

We were so happy to be a part of this celebration and we can't wait to see where life takes them together!

Leisha and Kyle were married this Saturday (yippeee), so I can finally share her gorgeous bridal portraits with you. She was so so beautiful- honestly on her wedding day I think she was glowing. When I asked what feeling she wanted to achieve during our shoot, she said 'pretty and dreamy', so we went with lots of vintage washes and soft focus filters. Ps . For those of you wondering if you should schedule a few extra minutes in your day to get pictures of just the two of you, check out their 'formals' gallery. I think we had 20-30 minutes to play around and I think that we were able to get some really great images that really reflect their excitement! The shot below happens to be one of my favs because I think it is totally them, but it was really nice to have a range to choose from!

Spring/Summer portrait schedule

Hellooooo all!

Our schedules are getting CRAZY for spring/summer portraits. Jason and I will be traveling a ton, spending some time in Austin and have a few out of town weddings booked. As such, I've listed the available dates through June for portrait sessions below. This is just a reminder that we shoot portrait sessions on weekdays (preferably Tuesdays or Thursdays) unless there is an emergency or weather concern. We have made a few weekend dates available in June because of our travel schedules, but they are very limited. Eric and Katy Wedding

Eric and Katy threw one of my favorite weddings of the season. It was warm, cozy, beautiful and super relaxed. It didnt hurt either that they really valued their wedding photos and made sure we had plenty of time and beautiful natural light to take pictures of just the two of them. Here are a few of my favorite images of the day.

Cassie and David Maternity

Lori and Mark are such fun, warm and committed people- it was easy to see why so many people love them dearly. We were so fortunate to be near the beautiful SMU campus, we we took advantage for a few happy couple pictures!

Lori really wanted to try and get a photo of everyone who came.... the only place large enough was the beautiful church courtyard! It was fun trying to coordinate everyone, and I think the photo turned out exactly like she wanted.

Cami and Sam Engagement

Meeting Cami and Sam was truly a very happy accident. Jason and I were waiting for an engagement session to start and out of the corner of my eye I saw something that was just interesting- I wasnt sure what was going on, but I was sure it was important. Low and behold, about 2 minutes after I grabbed my long lens, Sam dropped to one knee and asked Cami to marry him. At the risk of being totally creepy, I approached them after a few minutes to let her know that if she would like the files I'd be happy to give them to her. Fast forward several months and they've decided to use us for their upcoming summer wedding. We shot their real engagements a few months ago, and I was thrilled to see their chemistry in action! Robbie and Laura are Married

Robbie and Laura were married in Denton and had their reception at the Beautiful Wildwood Inn. I used to live in Denton and have driven by the Wildwood many times, but never realized it was such a wonderful venue. Thank you guys for allowing us to work with you, it was truly a pleasure!

Katie & Hunt are engaged

Katie and Hunt are one of our fun December wedding couples. They are absolutely adorable together and you can really tell that they have a great relationship. Hunt is a teacher in the area, and we were fortunate enough to have a few of his students as an audience during our session :0)

We made a small pit stop at their favorite wine bar. I LOVE shooting places that actually mean something to our couples, its so much more comfortable!

Family Fun Day!

Lately we've had a lot of inquiries about family holiday photos, and boy are we flattered! We love shooting returning customers and seeing how your family has grown! In order to accomodate everyone, we've decided to have a family fun day out at the arboretum. I've listed the details below, if you have any questions or if you'd like to reserve your time slot shoot us an email. Happy holidays!!

Date: November 16th

Time: 9:00am-5pm, 25 minute time slots

Cost: $50.00 (does not include arboretum admission)

What: Fast and fun family photos that are perfect for the holidays. Each family will have 30 minutes to do their thing and are allowed up to 4 people in each group. You may add additional group members for an additional $15 per person.

Stuff: You'll get the shooting time, basic editing, online proofing and cd with 5X7 sized proofs that are perfect for holiday cards and small prints.

Spring Update

Hi there guys! We wanted to let everyone know that our spring is pretty well booked with weddings. We are completely full for April and May and only have space for 1 more June wedding. If you're interested in March or June please contact us asap since we're getting several inquiries per week about spring dates now. Holiday Cut Offs

Just a friendly reminder, if you would like guaranteed delivery on any of the following products by the holiday season, the indicated deadlines are in affect:

- Albums: November 15th

- Holiday Cards: November 30th

- Gallery Wraps: November 30th

- Prints: December 5th

Please keep in mind that this is the last possible day to place your ORDER. This means that if you need an album by the holiday season, I need to have all of your paperwork in by this Friday October 17th in order to start the design. The design will take approximately 2-3 weeks, leaving us 1 week for revisions before the deadline.

It's been a LOOOONG two weeks

We have good news for everyone and kind of crummy news:

- The good news: Our business is now entirely mac! Fun right??!! We have a beautiful new work station and I couldnt be happier to have the ease of everything 'talking' if you will.

- The bad news: Jason left literally the day AFTER we got the new Imac, and I have had a hell of a time getting the thing set up. As of right now, it's caused delays for everything. Let's just say I cant even figure out how to get photos numbered right in our new lightroom. I'm terribly, terribly sorry for the delays and we know that everyone is super excited to get their stuff. Trust me when I say that I have banged my head on my desk so much these last 2 weeks that if I could have been more productive I would have been.

- The good news: Jason comes home Sunday. Hopefully we will return to our regularly scheduled program at that point. Until then, just about everything is held up somewhere in the pipeline, including all disks and editing. If you have a specific concern or can offer any mac advice shoot me over an email :0)

Thank you all for your continued patience. This was probably a hairbrained idea to do in the middle of wedding season, but it is what it is and we're trying to make the transition as smooth as possible for everyone. Now, go out and have a great day.

I just wanted to give a shout out to our second shooters Jake and Marcy. Over the last year + they have helped us grow our business in amazing ways and have added so much joy to our lives. We are so thankful for their continued support and friendship. On top of this they are both top notch shooters and wow me every time. Marcy is such a creative soul. I can always count on her to get the cutest photos of kiddos and an artistic twist on the days activities. Jake is rock solid in his photography skills and gets some killer work with his wide angle (even if it is a nikon!) :0) His colors are beautiful and his timing so good you'd never know he doesnt really 'do' weddings. These two are the types of people you are thankful to have in your life and you know that you can count on through thick and thin. We are truly blessed people.

Proofing timelines

Hello blog world! We've gotten several emails lately asking when proofs will be up a week or so before they are contractually due. We wanted to send out a mass update letting everyone know that as of right now we're taking about one month & one week to get wedding proofs up and two weeks to get session proofs up. I know you're all very excited to see your photos and I'm literally working until 1am about every night, but I cant go any faster. We apprecaite your patience and have not forgotten about you. When we've either reached the due date or if we have your photos uploaded earlier we will email you with the link. While I love hearing from all of you, waiting until your due date to contact us is greatly appreciated and will help speed up workflow since we're not busy responding to emails. Jason and I are so greatful to have each of you as clients and we hope you're having a happy summer!

Our AC is dead :0(

For the third time in our 2 month long home ownership adventure our AC has died. Apparently the home warranty people up in the nice, cool weather of Oregon don't seem to understand what our emergency is. Since our house is now in the 90's we've decided to take the prudent approach and not use our business computer at all until the problem is fixed. If the computer were to over heat by running a big program such as photoshop we could risk having even longer delays in getting your photos up to everyone. Needless to say we really appreciate everyones patience regarding anything to do with files & hope that you understand our decision to protect everyones memories. a CHALLENGE!!

So while we were over at our amazing second shooter Jakes house last night we both decided to splurge and get the totally rad actions. For those of you that are not in the arts world, Totally Rad actions are these amazing little photoshop plug ins by a kick ass Boutwell photography team. Basically they help photographers achieve different looks for photos in the least destructive, simple way possible. Well, Jason and I get home and I'm all fired up to give them a whirl.... but, I figure while I'm at it why not make it a fun little challenge. So I emailed Jake challenging him to post a few images on his blog using the TRA's and I'd do the same, then whoever's image is the swankiest wins. Loser has to buy a big 'ole bag of coffee for the winner :0) Well, he posted his up here http://www.ericajoyce.com/blog/?p=421 and while I've got to admit they're pretty good I think I kicked his coffee lovin' butt. I dont usually post up SOOC, or straight out of camera shots because, well, because to a non photographer person they look pretty terrible. SOOOO for all of our clients viewing this please do not freak out when you see the originals and they are crazy dark- just remember we shoot natural light portraits (unlike Jakes) and we know what we're ultimately going to do with them in post processing. awesome day of advice: wedding timelines

We get questions all the time from brides regarding their day of timelines. While we dont mind helping a bit to fine tune your day of schedule, here is some awesome advice from photographer Anne Ruthmann (with our photos in the mix). If I were getting married all over again I'd definitely print this one out. Whether you're planning to do it yourself or hiring a coordinator, these are some great tips to keep in mind.....................

Your timeline is one of the biggest factors in the success of your event. So many things go into creating a timeline that works, so I wanted to share a few ideas about things to consider when it comes to creating your perfect wedding day timeline.

Getting Ready

Most weddings that start late are because of hair & makeup. Doing a trial can not only help give you a good estimate of how much time it will take, but it will help you figure out exactly what you want your wedding day style to be so that you aren't spending time figuring it out on the wedding day. You also have to consider the benefits and drawbacks about where you'll be getting ready and how many people from your bridal party will be getting ready with you. Whether you get ready at a salon or have a stylist come to you, figure that each person will need about one hour of a stylist's time, and the bride may need two hours or more depending on the complexity of the styling. So while one stylist could take care of 5 girls in 5-6 hours, two stylists may be able to do the same work in only 2.5-3 hours. If bridesmaids are planning to use their own stylists or go to their own salon, suggest that they make their appointment at least 2 hours plus travel before they need to be anywhere.

Getting ready at a salon can give you access to more stylists at once as well as credit card processing and any other amenities that the salon offers. Having stylists come to you at your home, hotel, or ceremony site can allow you to roll out of bed at the last minute, have snacks or drinks of your choice on hand, and hang out in your pajamas until you're ready to get dressed. You may also want to take into consideration the kind of environment that helps you feel more relaxed. Some people may think a hotel room is great until they have 10 people in the same room all running around frantically while others feel uneasy starting the day with navigating traffic alone and being away from everything else they need to get ready. Choose an option that will help you start your day off right.

When considering where to get dressed, take into consideration how much stuff you'll have to bring with you as well as how comfortable you feel traveling in your dress. Some people prefer to get dressed at their ceremony site so that they don't have to risk getting their gown dirty or wrinkled by riding in a car or limo. Others prefer to get dressed at their home or hotel so that they don't have to lug a bunch of items to their ceremony site and repack it after the ceremony. No solution is better than any other, they are just different preferences. If you plan your photographer to be there while you get ready, you may also want to consider the surroundings in which your getting ready moments will be photographed, as well as any travel time involved between locations.

Portraits

Some photographers are very particular about when and how they do portraits, so you'll want to consult with your photographer to define the best plan of action for portraits based on your photographer's preferred working style and the kind of posed images you want. If you're trying to decide between portraits before or after the ceremony, here are a few things to consider: Before the ceremony, your makeup and outfits are fresh, you can have a private moment together before everyone arrives and pulls you in multiple directions, and you can reduce the amount of time that guests wait after the ceremony before sitting down for dinner. After the ceremony you may have to wait for all of your guests clear out before you can begin portraits, but you may care slightly less about the condition of your gown or tux and be willing to take a few more risks when it comes to creative portraits. Whatever you choose, make sure that the flowers will be ready when and where your portraits will be taken. The time of day may also influence when you would do most of your portraits, especially if you plan to have an evening or sunset ceremony. If your guests will be heading directly to the reception site, consider how long they will be waiting for your arrival. Whether you choose to do portraits before or after, the ceremony itself will remain the most powerful and emotional experience of the day.

Ceremony
Your officiant is going to be the best guide as to how long your ceremony is going to take. Guests generally start arriving up to 30 minutes before the scheduled starting time for the wedding (really!), which means that the wedding party and family need to be ready to receive guests or be out of view from guests as they arrive. There's a myth that most weddings start late. Maybe it's just my fabulous brides, but most weddings I've been to start on time or within 5 minutes of being on time! Some ceremony locations have strict times for when weddings need to be out of the site in order to accommodate another service or perhaps another wedding, which is why it's even more important for your wedding to begin on time.

Reception
Whether your reception is immediately following or at a set time, guests will gladly enjoy cocktails and hors d'oeuvres for up to an hour before getting anxious about your arrival. If you have an extended amount of time between your ceremony and reception (more than two hours) than it may be good to provide suggestions for your guests as to where they could stop in the meantime. Less than two hours and you may have guests who arrive at the reception site early. If your ceremony and reception are in the same place, a cocktail hour may or may not be needed- obviously your reception site will have the best recommendations for you. The scheduled dinner time is often the least flexible time in the wedding day since the kitchen has been working most of the day to get the meal provided by a certain time.

If you're doing a grand entrance, it takes about 15 minutes to get wedding parties organized and guests seated before announcing the bride & groom. Toasts generally don't take more than 15 minutes (unless you know you have a long winded friend or family member) and can be done before the meal begins, while the meal is in progress, or after the meal. If you have champagne service for the toasts, you'll want to know when the reception site can pour the champagne for the guests. If you plan to have your cake served as dessert, you may want to consider cutting it as part of your grand entrance so that it can be served immediately after dinner. The later your cake is cut, the less likely it is that everyone will actually get a piece of cake, or even know that it was cut, which could result in lots of left overs. Your caterer will give you the best idea of how long the table or buffet service will take for the number of guests that you have. Buffet service often takes less time than plated dinners because everything is served at once versus several different courses. After dinner is served, there's generally a good two hours of partying if you have a young and lively crowd. Most older people or parents with kids at home tend to leave by 10-10:30 pm, leaving you with the people who will generally stay until the bar closes. Of course, every crowd is different and obviously you will know your crowd better than anyone else.

Final Thoughts
You hire professionals because they are experts at what they do. They've seen it all and they know what works and what doesn't work. Don't be afraid to call on the people you've hired to help you create a plan for success. They want to make sure you and your guests have a great experience and are often happy to help make sure that happens.

Marcy and I ventured down to San Antonio in March to shoot my friends Jess and Kris' wedding. It was the quickest turn around time I've ever had- we did a wedding saturday night until past midnight and I was on a plane to San Antonio by 9:30am, talk about a crazy weekend! Kris is in the military and will be heading out on a tour of duty soon, every please keep him and Jess in your prayers/thoughts/meditation over the next year. Since they're not our regular clients I'll only post a few on here, but their ceremony site was gorgeous!

Today I decided to be proactive regarding our bridal and engagement sessions! I've created a questionnaire and tip sheet for both of the sessions. The questionnaires will allow me to get to know what you're looking for well before we show up and the tip sheet should help you guys plan for your sessions in advance. I'm trying to figure out how to add them as a download on the blog, but if I cant then Ill be emailing them out to couples and brides a week or so before your session. So i nearly died of laughter when my husband brought this upstairs to me the other day

It wasnt so much what's on the envelope but his look of utter defeat- as though he has finally become Mrs. Dori.... needless to say it was hilarious! In case you guys dont know what I'm talking about, I decided to do a little introduction to us.... a re-acquaintance if you will!! Here are a few random facts about us:

- my name is Dori Boone-Costantino... that's right, I'm a hyphenated girl. My maiden name was Boone, and my hubands last name is Costantino... put them together and give it a little shake and you get Boone-Costantino
- Jason is Jason Costantino, also known as JC to his buddies from school
- We live in downtown fort worth.. like literally downtown, I can walk to starbucks or LaMadeline any time I want which makes for a very happy Dori
- Although we love having the business, we do have a pretty busy life outside of our clients. Jason does financial for an oil and gas company and Dori will have an internship with the Susan G. Komen policy department this summer
- Dori loves stationary... the more frivolous the better
- Jason is an ultra marathoner, which means he runs more than the 26.2 required for normal marathons on a regular basis
- We have two spoiled rotten dogs, Kati and Carolina that do a fine job of distracting me
- We're on opposite sides of the political spectrum which makes for some very fun election season pranking!

We met up with Meredith and Craig a bit ago to shoot around Fort Worth. I am sooo excited for their wedding, I think it's going to be super fun! For their session, Merediths only request was that it was something different... we can do that! I love it when couples give us the creative freedom to go to the locations that we feel will really work for their personalities and style- it really helps to get those creative juices working and overall makes for great sessions. Candice and Jeff are married!!

Candice and Jeff got married at the super beautiful Perkins Chapel on SMU's campus. Their ceremony was at 7, so we had to get a little sneaky and run them outside immediately after the service for couples pictures, but it was well worth it. They are such a fantastic couple and each bring great families into the fold, so we know they'll have a long happy life together. Here are a few of my favorites.

Perkins only allows photographers to stand at the back of the chapel... so we took it as an opportunity to have the long lens handy to catch Jeffs reaction as Candice walked down the aisle with her dad

Right after the ceremony we headed outside to snag a few pictures of just the two of them. If you cant take photos together before the ceremony, I highly recommend taking 10-15 minutes right after the ceremony for just the two of you- it's really a great way to remember your emotions right at that minute

Yesterday Jason and I drove to the end of the earth for Mary Beth and Marks engagements.... ok, maybe it wasnt the end of the earth, it was just Waxahachie but it turned out to be worth it. I didnt have the opportunity to meet Mary Beth and Mark before they booked us, so it was really a treat to meet the bubbly, happily in love couple! Here are a few of my favorites from their session

Scheduling update

Hello there blog world!! We wanted to update everyone on the studio schedule!

1. As of right now, we have space for 4 more weddings this year. We made the decision to limit ourselves to 25 for the 2008 year, so if you're interested in booking with us please think about contacting us soon-ish.
2. We are completely booked for weekend sessions until the middle of May. Seriously every Friday, Saturday or Sunday between now and the second weekend of May have something scheduled. If you absolutely must have a weekend session before May I'll buy you coffee and we'll get up at the crack of dawn together. Otherwise, weekday late afternoon sessions are always a great option!!

And because I think every post need a picture, here's a super duper cute one taken for us by Cesar of Perez Photography. This is our little family- Me, Jason and our dog Kati.

Life is heating up over here as we get geared up for WEDDING SEASON!!! On Sunday we met up with Cecilia and Jason to take their engagement shots. We're pretty busy editing, so I cant post a whole bunch, but here are a few of my favorites!

There's kind of a fun story for this next one. We were roaming the Stockyards and came across this mural with the year 1992 on the bottom. Cecilia mentioned that it would have been neat if it said 1998 instead, since that was the year she and Jason met.... a little Dori photoshop lovin' later and it does :0)

Stephanie and Steven are so stinking cute! We had a bit of trouble scheduling their engagement session with all of the rain and the flu, but I was so happy it finally all came together! Steven lives right by a large pasture with a magnificent barn. So, we all threw on some boots, hopped a fence, dodged cow patties and played in the rain a bit for these shots. Anne and David were married in Fort Worth and it was probably one of the most fun weddings we've shot so far- which is a huge feat, especially since I had a 100 degree fever from the flu!! :0) Both of their families were wonderful and the TCU horned frogs knew how to have a great time. Here are a few of my favorites!

I love this one of David checking out Annes ring right before their vows. They each chose each other rings and opted not to see them until the ceremony- I thought it was a really sweet testament to how well the knew each others style.

Anne has done some coordination in the past and had a very specific plan in mind- leaving the church to a sparkler exit. It took some work, but the results were really cool. AND a huge plus was that they still got to do a rose petal exit at the reception venue!

Speaking of reception, it was held at the awesome Ashton Depot. Seriously, this place is amazing- it's beautiful, the staff is on top of it and it's got a great location in Sundance Square.

This was our first reception with a live band, Random Axis definitely kept people dancing

Towards the end of the night, Annes Chi Omega sisters sang a really sweet song. It was even more special because both her mom and little sister are Chi O's!

I usually dont solicit anything on the blog, but this time we really need some help. Meet Carolina:

Kati, our spoiled rotten golden doodle and I were running in the park on Thursday when we found Carolina. She was starving and really scarred. We took her home and called all of the no kill shelters in the area, but they are all too full to accept her. Jason and I are lucky enough to have the extra means and kennel to help, so we decided that we would foster her until she's healthy and we find her a family. She's about 20 pounds and the vet says she's probably a pit mix of some sort. She's very people friendly and gets along ok with Kati, although she'd probably be happier in a one dog home. If anyone knows of a family looking for a good dog, please have them contact us. We're more than willing to have her spayed as well as get her first round of shots before she moves into her new home. Thanks for all of the help, I know Carolina sure does appreciate it!!

Joanna is married!!! I loved her dress and for some reason it really said vintage to me so we kinda took that and ran with it! I have to say she was a total TROOPER and basically gave me free reign of the second half of her shoot- a few ant bites and wayward crickets later and I think we got some amazing shots. Mucho gracias has to go out to the assistant Jason, he tagged along since we were in his neck of the woods and we had a great time! Thanks again!!!!

The Hubbs and I are back from DC: relaxed, refreshed and ready to go!!! I accidentally forgot my blackberry back in Texas, which after the initial shock was actually a blessing in disguise. I was able to spend some great quality time with Jason and it really got me thinking about how 1.dependent I am on my blackberry and 2.how I can actually run a business without checking email a billion times a day. For the month of November I'd like to try something new: only checking email twice a day :0) I'll be checking it in the morning by about 9 and again in the evening by about 7, if you need us in between those times please feel free to call me- I want to keep the open door policy with our clients, but I think this will really help me use my time more efficiently. At the end of the month I'll re-evaluate and see how things are shaping up. Here's to relaxing vacations and beautiful DC fall weather!

Chelsea is a friend of mine from college, so when she asked us to photograph her wedding I was stoked! We've spent many hours together in sign language classes and it was great to see her finally walking down the aisle! It felt full circle, especially since she caught the bouquet at our wedding in March!

She and Aaron really are a great pair together and I couldnt imagine a better place for them to get married than her inlaws beautiful country home! Here are a few of our favorites

They had a traditional church reception, but also rented out club Suede on lower Greenville. It was SO MUCH FUN and the staff there was wonderful! We usually shoot with two lights for dark receptions but Jason shot this with only one, I'm diggin how it really ooozes the feeling of the place...

It's that time of year again: breast cancer awareness month! Breast cancer awareness is particularly close to our hearts, Jasons grandmother is a survivor and I've had a friend lose her fight, so finding a cure and supporting those families affected are one of our priorities. For the month of October we'd like to challenge our clients to do two things:
1. talk about breast cancer with someone and
2. donate towards the cause.

To sweeten the deal, if you meet both challenges we'll shoot a free one hour session in Fort Worth.

I kind of threw them under the bus since we only had an hour to shoot at the arboretum, but they were so cute in front of the camera that I dont think it mattered! Next we headed over to lower greenville, I love it when clients let me drag them into interesting places. Candice mentioned that she really likes the pop colors, so I edited most of them posted here that way. Here are a few of my favorites!

We brought the fish eye along, and I have to say these two are my favorite images from the day. I love the saturated colors with the distortion! What do you think?

Golf course weddings rock, but they are even better on beautiful days! We had perfect weather and big white fluffy clouds, so it was pretty much the best golf course day ever! Enjoy!!

We love this family! It is so funny how much we actually have in common with them, Michael works for the same company as Jason, we both live in downtown Fort Worth and Ann Maries family has lots of ties to Louisiana, which is where I'm from. So it was a natural that we had a blast at their wedding. Here are a few of my favorites

Cindy and Reggie were married at the Texas Womens University Chapel and had their reception at Sneaky Petes in Lewisville. It was a great day and we had beautiful weather, so it was a perfect day for a wedding! Enjoy!

Jamie and Chris are two brave people! Jamie sent Chris to book with me, sight unseen!! I was so thankful to have them as clients, they were so much fun and very relaxed on their wedding day. A shoutout also needs to go to our second shooters Jason and Marcy, this was a first wedding for both of them to work with us and they did a great job. Here are some of our favorites!

I dont usually put the guys getting ready shots here, but I really liked these two.

Since Jamie was not from Fort Worth we didnt have the chance to do bridals. During the formals we took a few of just her to substitute. She was so relaxed, and looked beautiful

Do not open e-card emails! Apparently a new virus has been circulating the internet and I'm just now getting the memo! :0) I thought my loving husband had emailed me a card, but really it was a virus. All of our files are a-ok, so no worries, but it wiped out our ability to connect to the internet for the last day or so. Jason is spending Saturday clearing our computer and I'll get to uploading/answering emails just as soon as we're able to connected again. In the mean time, really do stay clear of those e cards for a while!

I'm happy to announce that we're all booked up for fall/winter weddings! We've decided to take a limited number of clients since I'll be in school for the fall term, leaving me with plenty of time to devote to both school and our business. Nells Maternity

Our friend (and occasional second shooter) Nell is about to pop with her first little one! We're so excited to have him make his debut! We decided it was about time to take some maternity pictures, and she's graciously given me permission to post a few of her favorites here. This was my first maternity session, plus the bar was set pretty high since Nell shoots them frequently, overall I think we were both pleased thought! I also tried out some new color schemes and textures, so that made it really fun! enjoy!!!

What a fun wedding! Chris' family is from Nigeria and they had some of the greatest cultural traditions I've seen in a while. Without further ado, here are some of my favorites!

I played around with our fish eye for some of these. I love the subtle distortion, what do you guys think?

I got this idea from Kevin. This was right as Latoya was walking down the aisle.

Jason was able to get this from his angle, its great when churches allow us to be close

Ok, here's a new Nigerian tradition for us! It's kind of like a dollar dance, only the money is placed on the bride and grooms forehead

These were sort of like baked short bread, I'm not sure what they're made of but they were very good. This served as a favor from the bride and groom.

This post is a little out of the ordinary, but I wanted to send out a great big thank you to our clients that have been so good to us. You're support and caring not to mention patience have meant so much. Some of you may know, but Jason and I have had some pretty big changes over the last month and a half- which also happens to be prime wedding season! We've moved, he's changed jobs, I had pneumonia, he's in CA for a few weeks and we've both lost relatives due to illness. While it's been challenging, working and staying busy has been rewarding. I'm finally to a point where I'm almost all caught up (Yaayyyy!) but I can truthfully say that you guys have rocked my socks off. Again thank you, thank you, thank you and have a great one!

Julie and Doug got married a while back at Wilshire Baptist Church in Dallas. If you've never been there, it's a great chapel with beautiful stained glass and it's own art gallery! Here are some of my favorites from the day

I saw this posted on a photography forum I frequent, and it is simply beautiful. If you watch our specials, you might see that every year we have a breast cancer awareness month where we match your donation to the Komen- it's a very important organization to us and in our option, a worthwhile cause. When I saw this, I knew I had to make it available on our web site. I've never met this photographer, but I think its a beautiful book for a beautiful charity-

My Journey is Coming to an End

July 17th, 2007

As most of you know I have been working on a really exciting project. I have been photographing women who have or have had breast cancer. The last 4 months have been an emotional journey for me. I have had the opportunity to meet so many wonderful women, full of strength, full of life, full of faith. I knew that taking on this project would leave an impact on my life. However, I had no idea how much so. I finished my last photo session today. Each woman brought a unique story, yet each had something in common. Each woman has been effected by an ugly disease but through this disease have touched the lives of others, including my life. I am now in the final stages of my project. For the next 2 weeks I will be diligently working on putting the book together so it can go to publication on August 1st. I am still pre-selling books so if you are interested please email me at: photosbyrachel@aol.com. The books are $50 and ALL proceeds go to the Susan G. Komen 3 Day Walk.

Also, for all of you local folks they are supposed to air the story on Tampa Bays 10 News at 11:00 this evening. To all the ladies who participated in this project, thank you for sharing your life with me, for being transparent, open, and honest. You have touched me more than you can imagine.
